For my first Genre Reflection, I created a poem that details my teaching journey. To make this more meaningful I used the Haiku form to emphasize the natural process that becoming a teacher has been for me. I then formatted my words in an image to further reiterate the development I have undergone and the journey that has taken place for me to become a teacher. Enjoy!

Miss Fisher,
Thank you for sharing your genre reflection with us. Not only did you write a series of haikus, but you incorporated them into an image which is something I definitely would not have thought of. Your reflection was inspiring. You were able to eloquently capture a journey that I think most of us have gone through and yet it is still very personal to you and I think that shows. Thank you again for sharing.

Miss Fisher,
Your genre reflection is breathtaking - not simply the well-worded haikus, but the image you selected is a wonderful companion to your poem. I appreciate you sharing it with us and I think it really captures the journey you've been on to becoming a teacher. Thank you so much for sharing your journey with us!

Alexis,
Thank you so much for sharing this! I absolutely adore the poetry, your creative image, and the way that they interplay. I like that you characterize teaching as a calling: this is exactly how I feel about our profession. I see the image as a metaphorical interpretation of you text. For example, you do allude to obstacles and uncertainties, and the rushing water seems to represent them; however, your resolve to never give up, the bridge, provides solid footing as you work you way toward your goals. You make it clear that you aren't just striving for personal goals, but are working hard to model a higher quality of life for your students. I know that you will be an inspiring teacher. Thanks again!

Alexis,
Thank you for sharing your poetry with us! I loved to hear you read it, and I love the image you chose for it. I think it is amazing! Your reflection reminded me that teaching is a journey, one that I should enjoy more than I stress about. It also made me want to try some poetry of my own! Thank you for being so transparent about your own journey; it is inspiring to see the challenges you deal with and how you see your journey. Thank you again for sharing!

Ms. Fisher,
This is a very cool idea for a genre reflection. I never thought about incorporating visual art as part of my reflection and I appreciate that you thought out the box and presented me and everyone else with a whole new set of ideas for second genre reflection in the near future.
Teaching is a journey and I thank you for sharing your journey with me!
-Ms. Loyd
